Well, congratulations to the US government for finally treating their armed servicemen and women as mature citizens of a free country and permitting them the freedom and dignity to be open and honest to their colleagues about their personal lives, by ditching the notorious 'don't ask, don't tell' rule.
Below are two contrasting video links.
In the first, a young gay soldier is shown coming out to his father - a basic and important human right previously denied to him by the 'don't ask, don't tell' rule.
Gay soldier heatbreakingly comes out to his father
The second shows members of an electoral debate audience disgracing themselves, with Republican party candidate Rick Santorum, babbling on about, the military being used as some kind of 'social experiment' by allowing gay people to be open within it!
I wonder if Rick would find it easy to stand as a Republican official of any capacity without ramming his marital status (and in tern his sexuality) down our throats at every opportunity - just not possible, in fact they never stop talking about their wives and children. The hypocrisy and double standards are blinding - certainly blinding to the republican audience!
