Male Icons - Querelle.

It's got to be an all time gay great. Maybe not the most gripping drama I've ever seen on film, but Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 'Querelle' (1982) creates a moody, stylised, theatrical waterfront world set in a re-imagined port of Brest, where sailors, leather men, and businessmen cruise and collide to play out a testosterone charged drama of lust and longing.
It's visually rich... largely due to the presence of Brad Davies in the title role - one of the hottest actors of his time (and much missed). If you've not seen it, it's worth checking out, and if you have, it's worth taking a second look.
Memo to Stan Cox:  ....and that has got to be the best shaped vest I've seen on a guy - ever!

  1. A classic. Was the first gay themed movie I ever saw. So sorry that he died so young.
